From 2010 to 2013, in the government’s project “to Create a Provincial Model City in Environment Protection”, HYTM reconstructed Datong thermal substations and applied the technologies of absorption heat pump with large water temperature difference. At the same time, several other reformations of surplus heat recovery of exhausted steam were conducted to the first heat and power plant of Huadian Datong, Yungang heat and power plant of Datang International and other two power plants. After the reconstruction, the surplus heat recycled has enlarged the heating area by 24,280 thousand square meters, the standard coal has been saved by 677,000 tons per year equaling to about 300,000 hectares of trees planted. The reconstruction has taken place of heating coal-burning boilers and the quality of air has been improved a lot. Nowadays Datong is called “Sanya in the North China”.
